Focused on qualitative research methods and their application to the field of public health. Discussed historical ethical dilemmas and importance of evidence-based practices.
Experiential learning course requiring application of public health and health planning theories. Required participation in a semester-long community health program and advocacy project.

An introduction to various forms of world literature such as Dante, Claudia Rankine and George Orwell. This course emphasized literary analysis and the need for cross-cultural competency in the humanities.

ENGL3100-Critical Writing About Literature
Exposes students to various forms of workplace communication. Requires self-analysis in relation to professional goals and preparation of personalized job materials.
Overviewed concepts and methods of literary criticism through intensive reading and class discussions. Required thorough analysis of narrative forms and stylistic choices made by various authors.
ENGL3640-Introduction to Creative Writing: Poetry
An introduction to the reading of various forms of poetry and collaborative experimentation with the writing of poetry. Included workshopping with classmates and with instructor(s).
ENGL3800-Women Writers
A woman-focused literary analysis course which concentrated on the portrayal of and by women in various forms of literature related to time and space theories and fiction.

ENGL3970-British Literature Survey II
A woman-focused literary analysis course which concentrated on the portrayal of and by women in various forms of literature related to time and space theories and fiction.
An examination of key texts of British literature from 1789 forward. Required critical reading and analytical application of concepts from course discussions.
ENGL3980-American Literature Survey I
A survey covering key texts from the settling of the American colonies to the Civil War. Provided an overview of theories and social dynamics which formed the educational and popular culture of the nation.
ENGL4030-The Classics In Translation
An intensive examination of Classic literature from the Mediterranean. Followed a chronological timeline and put Classic texts in conversation with contemporary subjects.

A study of Shakespeare's selected comedies.
A reading-intensive study of post-20th century texts and the influences various authors and theorists have had upon what is defined as Modern Fiction.
An exploration of topics in literature from 1700-1899. Introduced a variety of authors, topics, themes, critical approaches and movements throughout the Victorian Period.
ENGL4960-Senior Seminar
A seminar course dedicated to an exploration and understanding of the vampire as a literary and cultural phenomenon. An attempt to define how the vampire figure represents the construction of various cultural and social identities, and simultaneously thwarts them.
