Mon stage

Mon stage (my internship)

During my semester abroad, I was able to participate in a 6-week internship for course credit at Le Bookshop, an English-speaker oriented bookstore located in the historic center on Montpellier. I worked alongside the shop owners once a week for 6-8 hours, assisting with a variety of tasks and interacting with citizens and visitors of the community. In order to connect my work at Le Bookshop with my LIH degree and interests, I worked on an independent research project, supervised by Professor Julia Sherry. My research focused on defining health literacy and comparing the hypothesized rate of health literacy in France with a more definite literacy rate. I focused on clinical outcomes of specific research projects in France and attempted to obtain a broader understanding of the health outcomes of the population as a whole, and connect all of this data to the health literacy of the nation. This was an incredibly fulfilling project which illustrated a very real and applicable connection between my two majors.
