Les systèmes endocrinien, nerveux et des organes de sens et la prise en charge:
This paper was written as a homework assignment while enrolled in French for Health Professionals 1. It provides an introductory, anatomy-based overview of the endocrine, nervous, and sensory systems, as well as a discussion of the challenges which can arise during the treatment of diseases which impact these systems. This assignment showcases relatively advanced French grammatical techniques and the ability to utilize a variety of sentence structures. It is a brief and field-oriented piece of work which is a strong representation of my current writing skills in my target language. Assignments such as this one have aided in my development of an awareness of appropriate levels of scientific writing and the need to convey information in a manner that is easily understood and accessible to the general public, two qualities which will be invaluable as I begin my graduate studies and pursue a career in healthcare administration.
Un Collier Ou Un Cheval? En Fait, Une Farce!
Guy de Maupassant is a well-known French author from the nineteenth century. Several of his short stories were analyzed and discussed in my French Short Story course in the spring of 2022. This paper features an in-depth analysis of two of his stories: “La Parure,” and “À Cheval.” I remember this assignment as being the first time I felt confident in my ability to analyze texts in French-I was no longer relying on my English courses as the basis for my reading of the works. Instead, I was focused on the stylistic choices of the author in my second language and challenged myself to think critically and analytically in French for the entirety of the writing process. It was also a paper which I found to be incredibly fun to write and satisfying to see come together.
